Licensed software: First there is downloading then there is installation of the software on a web server. Most often this is associated with a one-time fee. The primary merits of this particular option are that a license is owned by the merchant so it can be hosted by the merchant on any web server meeting the requirements of the server.
Open source software: There is release of the software under a license of an open source and is free of charge very often. The software has to be hosted by the merchant with the help of a web hosting service. Users are allowed by it to access as well as modify the whole online store's source code.
